Development of Online Course on Leveraging Carbon Markets for Mitigating Refrigerant Emissions

We developed a free, interactive, online course on behalf of the Climate and Ozone Protection Alliance (COPA)

This course provides policymakers and other stakeholders with a practical resource to understand carbon markets, refrigerants carbon projects, and Article 6, all in one.

Refrigerants and the cooling sector are one of the largest sources of global emissions, projected to account for 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 driven by the rising demand for cooling and the lack of adequate financing to manage them effectively. Through this course, participants will gain valuable insights into how carbon markets can be leveraged for mitigating refrigerant gas emissions. Participants may access the course through GIZ’s atingi.org learning platform or directly here.

Course Content Overview

The course is divided into 6 modules exploring main aspects of carbon markets and their interlinkages with the mitigation of refrigerant emissions.
